‘DYNAMIQUE’ Exhibition at Le Monde des Flamboyants

12.05.2017, Kinshasa, DRC – TMB is pleased to invite you to our new exhibition titled ‘DYNAMIQUE’ which is being held at Le Monde des Flamboyants from Friday 12 May to Thursday 8 June 2017. The official opening of the exhibition will be held on 12 May, at 6.00 pm.

Le Monde des Flamboyant is the permanent cultural centre of TMB, housed at its regional headquarters in Kinshasa.

TMB is delighted to host this art exhibition, which highlights works from six Congolese artists: Tobe, Ngbagaro, Makaya, Pelenda, Enkobo and Pita Kalala.

Geraldine Tobe is presenting works where smoke is omnipresent. She defines her artistic approach as autobiographical; in her works, she expresses her emotions, her fears, her pains and her positions.

Dieudonné Ngbagaro, known under the pseudonym DD Dehedjo, is inspired by the great masters of fantasy painting and draws on legends such as the one of Mamy Wata. His characters are surrounded by a carapace that envelops and hides them.

Makaya Mbuku has two favourite themes: the place of women in society and information and communication technologies. He reports on violence against women and denounces their precarious situation. For the artist, smartphones do not contribute to the rapprochement between people and he often represents them grafted on his characters.

Joel Pelenda also places women at the centre of his creation. She is at the origin of life and plays a primordial role in society. The artist finds his inspiration from images found on the internet and he realises his work by superimposing successive layers.

Bouvy Enkobo paints elusive and fugitive profiles that coexist in big cities. Evolution of the contemporary world does not take into account individuals who are drowned in the mass, standardised.

Pita Kalala is inspired by African fashion and dress codes; he represents the woman, often naked or simply dressed with a turban. The artist excels in the combination of materials and collage.

The exhibition is free and open to all members of the public, Monday to Friday, from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and on Saturday, from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
