Folk Art Exhibition at Le Monde des Flamboyants

12.12.2014, Kinshasa, DRC – TMB is pleased to invite you to the new exhibition “Artistes Populaires” (Folk Artists) to be held from Friday 12 December 2014 to Monday 12 January 2015 at “Le Monde des Flamboyants”.

Le Monde des Flamboyant is the permanent cultural centre of TMB, created at its regional headquarters in Kinshasa.

This exhibition gathers paintings from Berry Matundu, Alain Boduka, Bompini, Chéri Benga, Mika, Sapin, J.P. Kiangu, Sim Simaro, Chéri Chérin, Madry Prince, Sam Ilus, Mokono, Shula, Trésor Chérin and Tuyindula.

These artists describe themselves as folk artists. Their art describe perfectly the society around them. Commenting on the exhibition, Marc Everaert said “Art is their blood… It irrigates their veins and minds since they were born. Later on, they will take a look at the society and their fingers will translate it, through their paintbrush, in folk art”.

This exhibition has a particular importance and symbolism for us. Indeed, many of the works you will discover in our Centre will be the ones illustrating our 2015 calendars and diaries.

The exhibition is free and open to all members of the public, from Monday to Friday, from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm and on Saturday, from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.
