Opening of the `Papa Kahilu´ exhibition in Lubumbashi

11.12.2014, Lubumbashi, DRCTMB is pleased to invite you to the launch of a new exhibition ‘Papa Kahilu: 40 years of KAHILU art – 1974-2014’ on Thursday 11 December at 6.30 pm, at the Grand Karavia Hotel in Lubumbashi.

The exhibition, being held from 12 to 14 December, is organised by the Grand Karavia Hotel, in partnership with TMB.

Born in 1943, Papa Kahilu has for forty years continued to fascinate us with his art, rich bright paintings, created with knives. His inspiration can be found in daily life, country life, social values, work, the beauty of nature and respect for the environment. He often paints the beautiful streets of Lubumbashi lined with trees such as Jacarandas or Flame Trees.

Kahilu is also the artist who painted the Flame Trees murals that adorn our branches in Lubumbashi.

TMB supports the arts in the DRC and promotes artists with diverse cultural sensitivities and backgrounds. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to sponsor this exhibition that focuses on the work of the painter Kahilu, and we are pleased to invite you to discover this amazing painter who draws with such talent the Flame Trees that are dear to us.
