TMB Announces Exciting New Clean Energy Payment Service on PEPELE Mobile
13.01.2018, Lubumbashi, DRC – TMB is pleased to announce a new partnership between our mobile banking solution, PEPELE Mobile, and solar energy company DEV SOLAIRE. The partnership will mean that PEPELE Mobile users can make use of an exciting and innovative clean energy service in the Congo.
Dev Solaire specialises in the sale, installation, and maintenance of solar systems. In the Congo Dev Solaire is launching a new way “Pay as You Go” service which allows clients to progressively pay for a solar kit by purchasing vouchers during a determined period, and until a determined amount is reached.
PEPELE Mobile will be the primary payment platform on which to buy vouchers of different values in real-time, by interacting directly with the Dev Solaire management platform.
These payments at variable frequencies correspond to prepayments that will allow the buyer to consume energy; once the kit amount has been has been paid future use of the kit becomes entirely free.
During the pilot phase, approximately 700 kits will be distributed, mainly in the city of Lubumbashi. At the end of this phase, the payment model for kits will be offered to other cities in the region, such as Likasi, and Kolwezi.
Through this partnership, we expect to provide our clients living in areas with low energy coverage with a cost-effective, clean, and sustainable solution to their energy needs.
