TMB helps bring the Bismack Biyombo basketball tour to Kinshasa

16.07.2015, Kinshasa, DRC – Following the huge success of his Goma basketball camp, NBA star Bismack Biyombo has brought his basketball camp to Kinshasa.

In 2013 and 2014, Bismack Biyombo held highly successful basketball training camps in Lubumbashi and Kinshasa. TMB was pleased to support the 2014 camp in Lubumbashi, and is honoured to be able to support an expanded basketball tour this year, with camps taking place in three cities, namely Goma, Kinshasa and Lubumbashi.

Sport and the vital part played by positive role models, are immensely important for the development and education of young people. As such, TMB is delighted to support the basketball tour and related camps.

Bismack Biyombo Sumba is a Congolese professional basketball player born in Lubumbashi. Bismack recently joined the Toronto Raptors, having previously played center with the Charlotte Bobcats. He is currently one of only two players from the DRC playing in the NBA.

This year’s Kinshasa Bismack Biyombo camp is taking place from 16 to 19 July in the Ma Campagne area of Kinshasa, at the ASK court. The training camp welcomes young adults aged 14-18 years old.

The programme of the Kinshasa camp is as follows:

16 July: Competition and selection

17 July: Workshop and selection

18 July: Workshop

19 July: All Star Game

The Bismack Biyombo basketball camp aims to promote the game of basketball and its core values as a tool to accomplish life goals, an approach TMB seeks to support and encourage. The initiative aims at giving young people in Kinshasa and indeed across the country opportunities to pursue their education and to develop their sporting careers.
