TMB Launches Insurance Products

22.10.2021, Lubumbashi, DRC – Trust Merchant Bank is proud to announce that the Congo’s Insurance Regulatory and Supervisory Authority, Autorité de Régulation et de Contrôle des Assurances (ARCA), has granted the Bank authorisation to distribute insurance products.

TMB is now authorised to distribute insurance products to individuals on behalf of Afrissur SA through our extensive bank branch network.

To date, TMB is the first commercial bank to join the list of insurance providers in the DRC and the only commercial bank authorised to distribute insurance products for the Congolese insurance market.

The Bank already provides credit risk coverage products to TMB retail sector loan clients. In particular, TMB offers its customers the possibility of subscribing free of charge to Afrissur’s Account Protection Insurance, which guarantees the payment of a fixed capital on their account in the event of death or absolute and definitive disability from any cause.

With this agreement, TMB is becoming an intermediary in the distribution of life insurance products. We are pleased to be broadening our offer by proposing new products to our customers such as complementary pension provision, education provision, funeral provision or mixed project savings cover.

Afrissur is the insurance company created by TMB, and which received its licence to operate from ARCA in 2020. Afrissur has the same DNA as TMB. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the company has identified the specific insurance needs of the country and offers a complete range of life insurance products for individuals and companies.

In the same way that TMB is working to make banking inclusion a reality for all Congolese, Afrissur aims to accompany the transition from community and informal insurance systems to formal and inclusive individual and group systems. This is TMB’s vision of insurance inclusion.
