TMB participates in the International Day for Saving

31.10.2013, Kinshasa, RDC – TMB is taking part to the third edition of the International Day for Saving, on Thursday, October 31st. Now in its third year, International Day for Saving events are being hosted in the provinces of North and South-Kivu, particularly in the cities of Bukavu, Goma and Uvira, and Kinshasa, having in previous years been largely focused on Kinshasa.

‘La Cigale et la Fourmi’ is certainly the most famous fable of Jean de La Fontaine. The story contrasted the cricket -presented as being careless, negligent and shortsighted- with the ant -seen as hardworking, thrifty and prudent.

The image of the ant symbolizes the message of the International Day for Saving, for which this year’s slogan is “Saving for my future in the DRC, yes it is possible”. Events aim to promote saving through the banking sector, with a particular focus on encouraging young people to develop a savings culture. Awareness campaigns and diverse activities will run throughout the day, in particular in schools and universities.

The development of a savings culture among young people is a vital element in supporting sustainable, long term economic growth here in the DRC.
