TMB sponsors NBA star Bismack Biyombo basketball camp in Goma

12.07.2015, Goma, DRCBismack Biyombo, the Congolese NBA player, is in Goma to take part in the Bismack Biyombo basketball camp.

Aware of the immense importance of sport and the importance of positive role models in the development and education of young people, TMB is delighted to be able to support the event.

Bismack Biyombo Sumba is a Congolese professional basketball player born in Lubumbashi. Bismack recently joined the Toronto Raptors, having previously played center with the Charlotte Bobcats. He is currently one of two players from the DRC playing in the NBA.

The Bismack Biyombo basketball training camp is taking place in Goma from 12 to 14 July at the Maison des Jeunes, on the central court of PJB (Promo Jeune Basket). The camp is designed for young adults aged 14-18 years old.

This week’s Goma programme is as follows:

12 July: Camp in workshop and players selection

13 July: Camp in workshop and selection – All Star Game

14 July: Camp in workshop for under 16 years old

Following on from the success of previous camps which took place in Lubumbashi and Kinshasa in 2013 and 2014, this year sees the Bismack Biyombo basketball camp being held in three cities of the DRC: Goma, Kinshasa and Lubumbashi.

The objective of the Bismack Biyombo basketball camp is to promote the game of basketball and its core values as a tool to accomplish life goals, goals that TMB is thrilled to support. The initiative aims at giving young people in the province and across the country opportunities to pursue their education and to develop their sporting careers.
